It seems like only yesterday – the story behind the songSince the age of five I was heavily involved in Irish dancing and did that for many years, I wanted to build a career in dance. Although with ongoing knee problems my dancing dream came to an end. The Lord was kind to me as I discovered that I had a talent and a passion for not only singing but also for songwriting. After seeing how my songs can affect people I know that this is what I want to do with my life. This song is about grief and the sadness associates with the loss of a best or close friend. For my first birthday I received a puppy named Tuppy from my grandma and granddad. As I grew so did my love for Tuppy, I know it may sound silly but we were best friends. I told her everything and the most important thing is that she listened. She accepted me for who I was. It was her that helped me get though difficult stages of my life. In 2004 Tuppy, my best friend, was taken from me, it nearly destroyed me. I did not want to get on with my life without her. I dedicate this song to her, as a tribute and a way of thanking her for the short time she was with me. And to look on the bright side, enjoying the many good memories of the fun times we had together. Although primarily this song was written about the loss of Tuppy, it also says that life is short and we should not take for granted the little things that give us joy, not to dwell on the bad, but to be thankful for what we have been given and the experiences that we go though, these experiences help us grow, and learn more about ourselves and other people. |

My name is Emma Yeomans, I have been singing ever since I could talk and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. I was not always serious about being a singer.
